New Braunfels TX for Thanksgiving

November 20 -  December 1, 2016
River Ranch RV Park, New Braunfels TX

Well we left Mufreesboro AR just in time before it got cold and headed down to New Braunfels TX for the Thanksgiving holiday.  It's a nice little park and we were right on the river, however we were under 2 roads so it was noisy!  Eventually we got used to it.

While we were there, we visited Landa Park on the Comal River.  The air was crisp and it had the clearest water I'd ever seen!

Peggy, Patricia and I visited Gruene TX - what a lovely town!  They boast the oldest dance hall in Texas and The Gristmill Restaurant sits high above the Guadalupe River.

Went to Naegelin's Bakery - mmmm!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends then headed down to Hummingbird Cove near Rio Hondo and Harlingen TX.  We've been wintering at various RV parks in the Rio Grande Valley where the winter is mild (and the livin' is easy).
See you there!

Rockport Texas

We arrived in Rockport Texas on April 17, 2016.

We had planned to stay for a week with Peggy and Patricia and their families, but we decided to stay for the month instead.

Best decision ever!

We were parked in a primo spot, overlooking the bay.

Went to the dog park the first day.

We walked on the pier and saw lots of jellyfish. So glad we weren't in the water with them.

Angry water.

We toured the area while everyone reminisced,
pointing out where they had been, what they had done,
childhood memories of being in Rockport as children.

I just love the color of this house, so tropical and serene.

The giant blue crab lives!

Over and out for now,
stay tuned for more about our stay in Rockport!

Onward to Rio Hondo TX

We left Americana RV Park in Mission TX on January 5 and arrived at Hummingbird RV Park only about 50 miles away.  It's closer to the Gulf and right on the Arroyo Colorado River with their own private pier and boat launch.

Found a local bakery that makes amazing apple fritters!
Everything is baked right there and it smells amazing!

This is our spot for a month.  It's pretty windy so our awnings are usually in.

Our rig and my view from the window before I get out of bed.

Colorful cemeteries

This was a very common sight. They can be grass fires or controlled burning of sugar cane fields.

The dispersing smoke

Not everyone in an RV park is an old fogie.
Some drive golf carts, others drive hot motorcycles with sidecars!

Country, gospel, jazz - many parks have weekly jams.
Greatly attended, an outlet for musicians of all talents, to have a good time while on the road!

Super duper activities.  How about a duck race and Poker Run?

Poker Run,  Mix me a drink and give me a poker #.

Chili Willies for dinner before we left.

 Some more fishing pictures...

 Beautiful morning...

We've already picked out our new camping spot in Port Mansfield TX.  We'll be moving on February 4 and plan to relax and fish. Eventually we will return to Seffner FL to have a window replaced while we hightail it up to Whitney Point to drop or and pick up possessions in storage.

Next up:  Port Mansfield TX
See you soon!
